Project Manager Professional Engineer

Position Description

The project manager oversees the management and delivery of multiple complex engineering and infrastructure projects, guiding them from conception to completion. This entails defining project scope, setting schedules, allocating resources, and providing technical support to the team. They serve as the subject matter expert, supervising the project lifecycle to ensure successful delivery. Responsibilities include managing scope, cost, and schedule, mitigating risks, and ensuring team contribution. Additionally, they are accountable for maintaining accurate project schedules and monthly reports. The PM coordinates communication among stakeholders, team members, and leadership to ensure timely, within-budget delivery of quality deliverables and milestones.

Duties

  • Coordinate and direct multiple projects at a variety of scales and complexities
  • Manage and coordinate feasibility studies, preliminary engineering design, risk analysis, cost estimation, final design, right-of-way plans, and utility relocation needs
  • Manage, develop, and update project schedule from conceptional design to construction completion
  • Responsible for keeping projects on budget, on schedule, and well-coordinated between project stakeholders, team members and leadership
  • Direct and manage the day-to-day operational activities for all project team members including overseeing consultants and/or contractors to keep all activities on track and moving forward
  • Teach and mentor junior staff on technical skills
  • Coordinate with the project team to discuss updates, and prepare solutions to minimize impacts on the project scope, schedule, and budget expectations
  • Perform construction administration related duties such as site visits, field reports, shop drawing review, and respond to contractor RFI’s
  • Participate in relevant professional and community organizations to grow professional network & skills and to increase exposure to the team

Education and Experience

  • 5+ years of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or similar curriculum from ABET accredited college or university
  • Licensed to practice as a Professional Engineer (P.E.)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Considerable knowledge and understanding of civil transportation infrastructure design, roadway design, erosion control, drainage, and construction standards and practices
  • Proficient skills using Microsoft Office365, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, WaterCAD, Civil 3D and Adobe Acrobat
  • Familiar with collaborative working environments such as Microsoft Teams and SharePoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well independently or as part of a team
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and guide others, build effective and cohesive teams toward the accomplishment of company goals
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, coordinate, train, support, assign and evaluate the work of subordinate managers
  • Ability to handle confidential materials with considerable personal tact and initiative
